Classic Bugs Bunny Rules Us All

Doug Merrill's new Facebook profile has inspired me:

Man, I haven't seen the unexpurgated original in years.

Old buggs bunny is great (at least if you ignore the racist ones), but this one, and the Wagner one, have left me unable to hear this music w/o thinking of the cartoon. (At least it's not as bad as the stuff ruined by the smurf-berry crunch commercial.) Also, all the cross-dressing on old buggs bunny cartoons is a bit odd, no?

I was just struck by the fact, in re-watching the cartoon, that Bugs plays the groom, and Fudd the bride. Wasn't it nearly always the other way around? Bugs playing the woman in his cartoons was common enough for it to be a gag in the wonderful, dreadfully under-appreciated Looney Tunes: Back in Action.

Matt, I consider that a bonus. I love going to the opera-- and love that when I go see Wagner, I get to watch two shows at once, the German one onstage and the bunny one in my head.

Russell-- indeed, Bugs cross-dresses earlier in this cartoon! Funny to see the switch.
