Saturday Night Live Music: "Invisible Sun"

I mentioned before that the big "event" concerts that get put together rarely appeal to me--but this is another one which did: the massive "Human Rights Now!" Amnesty International tour of 1988. My political views were hardly fully matured 25 years ago, but I knew the tour t-shirts were cool, and I wished I could have caught the show. And when, years later, I first saw this terrific Sting and Bono collaboration, I wished it even more:

Melissa and I have seen The Bobs twice, both times in Washington DC back in the late 1990s. Their line-up had changed twice more by the time this version of their classic a capella cover of Cream's "White Room" was filmed a couple of years ago, but by all appearances, they haven't lost their energy yet:

...and sitting on my bed upstairs, with everyone else in the house asleep, I was laughing until my sides hurt.

Happy 100th birthday, Julia Child, wherever you are. Hope you're making a nice roast chicken for whomever stops by this evening.
